Your Wedding Is One Month Away – The Calm, Final Checklist
Thirty days.
Your wedding is no longer an idea — it is happening. The final month is not about adding more. It is about confirming, simplifying, and protecting your peace.
If you've followed our timeline series, you've already worked through the 12 Month, 6 Month, and 3 Month Wedding Planning Checklist. This final guide is about clarity, not chaos.
Here’s exactly what to focus on in the last four weeks.
Week 4 Before the Wedding (Days 28–22)
Confirm All Vendors — Once, Clearly
This is your final structured check-in. Email each vendor with one concise message confirming:
- Arrival times
- Key contact person on the day
- Final payment dates
- Pack down responsibilities
- Your confirmed timeline
Send everyone the same master timeline to avoid crossed wires. If you need help staying organised, review your numbers against your wedding budget breakdown to ensure final payments are accounted for.
Finalise Your Seating Plan
Now that RSVPs are in, lock your seating chart.
- Seat conversationalists together
- Be mindful of family dynamics
- Seat elderly guests near exits
- Place children where supervision is easy
Print your final layout and keep a digital copy.
Confirm Your Ceremony Structure
Meet or call your celebrant to confirm:
- Ceremony order
- Readings and music cues
- Processional timing
- Microphone setup
- Signing table placement
Complete Legal Paperwork
In New Zealand, your Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged at least 3 working days before your wedding. Revisit our guide to the legal requirements for getting married in New Zealand if needed.
Week 3 Before the Wedding (Days 21–15)
Finish Writing Your Vows
Keep them sincere and concise — 1–2 minutes when spoken aloud.
If you need structure, revisit our guide on how to write wedding vows.
Prepare Your Emergency Kit
- Safety pins, double-sided tape
- Mini sewing kit
- Stain remover pen
- Pain relief, antihistamines
- Deodorant, mints, tissues
- Snacks and water
- Phone charger
Assign one responsible person to manage it.
Do Your Hair & Makeup Trial
Photograph it in natural light. Check longevity. Wear it for a few hours.
Wear In Your Shoes
Comfort is not optional. Add gel inserts if needed.
Week 2 Before the Wedding (Days 14–8)
Create Your Detailed Wedding Day Timeline
From wake-up to final exit, map it out:
- Getting ready
- Vendor arrivals
- Ceremony start
- Photos
- Reception entrance
- Speeches
- First dance
- Cake cutting
- Final song
Share this document with all vendors and your bridal party.
Delegate Clearly
Assign responsibility for:
- Gift collection
- Guest Book reminders
- Emergency kit
- Décor pack-down
- Vendor coordination
When everyone knows their role, you relax.
Confirm Final Guest Numbers
Provide your final headcount to your venue and caterer. Add 1–2 extra meals as a safety buffer.
Collect Your Rings
Store them somewhere safe. Assign the ring holder clearly.
Week 1 Before the Wedding (Days 7–1)
Pack for Your Honeymoon
Confirm travel documents, insurance, transfers, and currency.
Attend Your Rehearsal
Walk through positioning, pacing, and entrances calmly. This removes nerves on the day.
Lay Everything Out
- Dress, shoes, veil, jewellery
- Suit and accessories
- Rings
- Marriage paperwork
- Vendor contacts
- Printed timeline
Prioritise Rest
Hydrate. Eat well. Sleep. Reduce alcohol this week. Protect your energy.
Release Perfection
Something small may not go exactly to plan. That does not define your marriage.
The Day Before
- Deliver décor and signage
- Confirm vendor arrival times
- Charge devices
- Eat a proper meal
- Spend calm time with loved ones
- Go to bed early
Final Reminder
There are only three legal requirements for a wedding:
- A celebrant
- A valid marriage licence
- Two witnesses
Everything else is atmosphere.
Return to the priorities you set at the beginning of your planning journey in How to Start Wedding Planning. That clarity is what matters now.
If you've been using The Little White Book wedding planner, this is the week to close the planning pages and open the “Our Love Story” section.
You are ready.
Now go and get married.
