Guest Pregnancy Journal – 11 Weeks
This second-time Mama shares her honest reflections at 11 weeks pregnant. Between nausea, back pain, body image struggles and the excitement of hearing a tiny heartbeat again, this entry captures the emotional mix of early pregnancy with baby number two.
11 Weeks Pregnant – Baby is the Size of a Fig
Weight: 78kg (increase of 3kg)
Symptoms: Nausea and vomiting (still 1–2 times a day), sore lower back and possible sciatica
Cravings: Nothing specific, but mandarins and raspberry milkshakes taste better than ever
I’ve been feeling…
Emotionally better this week — not as tearful.
A little stressed about how fast this pregnancy seems to be going. It feels like the baby will be here before we know it.
I’ve been counting down the days until my midwife appointment so I can hear that little heartbeat.
My partner has been…
So thoughtful and supportive. He’s stepped up a lot, especially when my back pain has made it hard to walk. He’s been doing more with our toddler so I can rest.
When I see my body, I feel…
Honestly, not great.
I’m not happy with how much weight I’ve gained already. I’m showing much sooner than I did with my daughter. It’s that awkward in-between stage where no one knows you’re pregnant, but you have a visible tummy.
I feel like everyone is noticing and gossiping.
I wish I were someone who felt comfortable in her body no matter the shape, but I’m not. I’m struggling with that this week.
Something I need to get done is…
Everything. The to-do list feels endless.
We haven’t started anything for baby yet. We’re currently upgrading my husband’s car so we can actually fit a car seat in it — lots of vehicle swapping happening at the moment depending on work schedules.
The best thing about being pregnant so far has been…
That first scan.
Seeing the tiny little blob on the screen and watching the flicker of their heartbeat.
Will we find out baby’s gender?
Totally undecided.
I’m leaning towards a surprise. With our daughter, we found out at 35 weeks and I almost wish we had waited just a little longer.
How I’m going with diet, exercise, sleep and stress…
Diet: Not great. Carbs are the only thing settling my stomach right now. Meat is completely off the table.
Exercise: I’m still attending HIIT classes 2–3 times a week. It’s getting harder, but I’m persevering.
Sleep: Great! I’ve been napping with my daughter each day. It’s been so lovely to cuddle her and get extra rest.
If I could say anything to my baby right now it would be…
“We told your sister about you tonight. She was so excited and can’t wait to give you big cuddles.”
Early Pregnancy with Baby Number Two
Second pregnancies bring a different kind of awareness. You know what’s coming — the newborn stage, the sleepless nights, the love that doubles.
