25 Weeks Pregnant

BABY IS THE SIZE OF A: CAULIFLOWER

This week marks 25 weeks pregnant, and I feel like I’ve quietly crossed into that “properly pregnant” stage. My bump is obvious now, strangers notice, and baby’s movements are impossible to ignore.

My Weight

I’ve gained around 8–9kg so far. I’m trying not to focus too much on the number and instead remind myself that my body is doing exactly what it’s meant to do.

Cravings

Fruit. All the fruit. Especially cold watermelon and oranges straight from the fridge. I also go through phases of wanting something salty straight after something sweet.

Symptoms

  • Lower back ache by the end of the day
  • Occasional heartburn
  • Waking up at 3am for absolutely no reason
  • Baby hiccups, which might be my favourite thing ever

I’ve Been Feeling…

Calm. But also more aware.

I feel baby move constantly now and it makes everything feel very real. I’ll be in a meeting, or folding washing, and suddenly there’s this big roll or kick and I just stop and smile.

At the same time, I’ve started thinking more about birth. Not in a fearful way, just in a “this is actually going to happen” way. It’s no longer abstract.

This Week I Learned

That Braxton Hicks contractions are a thing. I had a strange tightening sensation across my belly and immediately went down a Google rabbit hole. Turns out it’s completely normal — just my body practising.

I’m Most Excited About

Meeting this little person and seeing who they are. I try to imagine their face but I can’t. All I know is that they already feel like such a big part of our lives.

I’m Slightly Nervous About

Sleep. Everyone talks about the newborn stage like it’s survival mode. I love my sleep. I know it will be worth it, but I’m under no illusion that it won’t be challenging.

What Pregnancy Feels Like at 25 Weeks

It feels steady.

The chaos of the first trimester feels far away. The heaviness of the very end isn’t here yet. It’s a strange in-between — strong kicks, a growing bump, nesting thoughts creeping in.

I’ve started writing down little notes to baby in my Pregnancy Journal. Nothing elaborate, just small moments I don’t want to forget — like how they kick every time I lie on my left side.

If I Could Say Anything to My Baby Right Now

Keep growing. Keep kicking. I love you more than I ever expected to at this stage. You already feel like home.
