Guest Pregnancy Journal: 36 Weeks with Simone Anderson
Week: 36
Baby is the size of a? Winter melon… what even is a winter melon? You tell me, “Preggers” app.
Weight gain: 14.5kg gain, sitting at 99.5kg.
Cravings? Weetbix Bites. Lots of them.
Symptoms? Starting to get a tiny amount of colostrum.
Can you tell us about your fertility journey?
We had our wedding planned for March 28th and Covid pushed it out. Because we didn’t know when we would be able to get married, we started trying to conceive. We tried for two months before we had the chance to rebook our wedding date, so we paused. Our new date was set for November 20th, so we started trying again two months out, thinking that if it happened we hopefully wouldn’t be showing yet and my dress would still fit.
How have you been feeling emotionally?
I am a very emotional person, so I was worried about how I would be, but Trent says I’m very much the same. Still a crier, but nothing worse. Luckily.
Did you have fears of miscarrying in the early days?
There was always the awareness that miscarriage is common and that it could happen to us. I had to remind myself that whatever happened would not be my fault and to have faith in my body and mind that we would survive either way.
What has surprised you most about being pregnant?
The amount of unsolicited advice thrown at you about everything. It can feel overwhelming as a first-time mum.
You’ve shared an incredible bond with your baby. Any tips?
I have made it my daily goal to give this baby my full attention for at least ten minutes. I want him to know before he is earth side that he is my priority. By nature, I am go, go, go. Slowing down has allowed me to form a deep bond and take care of myself both physically and mentally.
You’ve maintained your fitness throughout pregnancy. Has anything felt hard?
I love my daily exercise and F45. It has kept me strong and feeling prepared for birth. Interestingly, I have found walking harder than training, so I’ve scaled that back.
How are you feeling about birth?
I am genuinely excited. I believe my body was designed to do this. I have been doing a hypnobirthing course via an app and reading, which has helped me feel mentally prepared. We have also completed antenatal classes.
Have your weight loss surgeries affected pregnancy?
Due to weight loss surgery, there is a higher chance baby can track smaller, so we’ve had more regular scans. He is tracking within range, slightly smaller compared to my size, but healthy. There have been testing moments of worry, but right now we are looking good.
Be honest… have you kept up your pregnancy journal?
We have. Something I am so proud of. Every Friday. Trent needs a little prodding, but we get there.
Documenting pregnancy has helped me slow down and appreciate this season. For many families, a Pregnancy Journal – Made With Love becomes a beautiful way to preserve these reflections before life shifts into newborn mode.
How are you planning to balance newborn life?
I will take it slow and day by day. I want to be present and soak up every second of the newborn stage.
Once baby arrives, we are excited to capture those first moments.
If you could say anything to your baby right now?
You are already enough. You have everything you need to live a happy and fulfilled life within you. You are loved and supported, and I cannot wait to watch you grow into an incredible man.
